This series consists of records relating to schools. The records include letters received and copies of letters sent, and telegrams. The correspondents include the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, vendors, and other individuals having business with the agency. Subjects covered in the correspondence include the administration and management of the Cheyenne River Agency day schools and boarding schools; finance; purchasing; school censuses; teacher training; and Indian students attending mission schools, public schools and other Bureau of Indian Affairs schools. The records also include reports related to school operations and inspections; applications for enrollment at off-reservation boarding schools; and lists of Cheyenne River Agency students attending Haskell Institute, Flandreau School, Pierre Indian School, Rapid City Indian School, Chilocco Indian School, and Standing Rock Agency schools.
